Meet the Team

Alex Mathews is a Director of Development at Apex Clean Energy with more than 15 years of experience leading utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects across the Western U.S. He leads a multi-state team responsible for every stage of development, including real estate, permitting, transmission and interconnection, engineering, legal, and finance. His portfolio includes more than 10 projects totaling over 6 gigawatts, among them Apex’s largest wind project to date: Singing Grass Wind, a 603-megawatt project in Kit Carson County, Colorado, developed and transferred to Xcel Energy. Building on that success, Alex continues to lead development across Colorado, Idaho, and the PNW.

Michelle is a Project Developer with Apex Clean Energy, where she manages the development of utility-scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage projects across the Rockies. She works closely with local communities, regulatory agencies, and industry partners to advance projects from early development through construction. She has contributed to the successful development of Colorado’s largest wind project - Singing Grass Wind. Michelle holds a bachelor of science degree in Biology: Environmental Systems & Sustainability from University of California, San Diego.

Patrick Adams is an experienced renewable energy professional going on 12 years. He focuses on leading land acquisition strategy efforts in utility-scale wind projects specializing in transmission right of way.

With 14 projects and counting, they span the SPP, MISO, and WECC regions. He has a proven track record working with the development team from early-stage development through land acquisition, permitting, construction, into operations. Developing and building landowner relationships is his top priority. He lives in Fort Collins, Colorado with his wife Lily. They enjoy spending time traveling, working in their garden, good food, good music, and quality time with their 3 kids and 2 grandkids.
